Who Am I?

Who am I? Who do I want to be? This week I read a talk from President Oaks titled, “The Challenge to Become”. We live in a world where it seems we are always being pushed to do something different, be better, have the biggest house, or the latest new car. I don’t know about you, but I feel like to the world, I am always coming up short. But am I? I know whose child I am; therefore, I know who I am. I have divine potential. I can be more than I could ever imagine. It takes faith to move forward in the becoming process. I have been on this earth for over 40 years and in that time, I feel that I have learned some important concepts. It isn’t important what the world thinks or believes, what is important is my relationship with the Savior. How I am living. Am I treating others with that Christ-like love that everyone deserves? President Oaks stated “It is not even enough for us to be convinced of the gospel; we must act and think so that we are converted by it. In contrast to the institutions of the world, which teach us to know something, the gospel of Jesus Christ challenges us to become something”. Isn’t that powerful? It isn’t just in the learning it is in the becoming and we have the gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth right now to help us to do that. We need to quiet the noise from the world and focus on the Spirit and what he is teaching us and what path He is moving us to. We can become anything we want. What do you want to become? I learned this week that being converted to the Gospel “requires us to become”. There is so much more than just learning, we need to make it who we are.
